Space Art in SF: Zero Gravity Arts Consortium. The positive way to see the space 2020
Space art, moon art, and art created in zero gravity will be featured in a video presentation at the San Francisco International Arts Festival 2011. Produced and hosted by the Zero Gravity Arts Consortium, the Arts, Culture and Humanity in Space presentation explores a wide range of creative work arising from the surprisingly active nexus of contemporary art and space exploration.
The program features a project for the creation of lunar surface drawings by robotic rovers; paintings made by artists while falling in zero gravity aboard NASA’s space flight training jet; microgravity mobiles, zero gravity dance, artist-astronaut collaborations and more. The material will be presented in a series of videos from eight countries, and short talks by space artists, scientists and engineers.
The Zero Gravity Arts Consortium (ZGAC) was founded in 2003 and is dedicated to facilitating collaborative work between space scientists and artists, and to fostering greater access for artists to space technology including transport systems, orbital space stations, and parabolic zero gravity flights.
The documentary program of international space art videos is curated and hosted by ZGAC co-founder Frank Pietronigro. It screens Sunday May 29 at 2pm at the Fort Mason Center Southside Theater. Visit the San Francisco International Arts Festival site for ticket information.
