Animated Typography
Typography is generally viewed as having a static medium, however many motion artists are becoming more inclined to include strong typography focus in their videos. The artistic technique of expression with kinetic text is used to convey the emotion or mood of numerous performing musicians such as Outkast, Bjork, Linkin Park, Nina Simone, Telepopmusik and many more. Below is just a small selection of typography videos just waiting to be found. If you have a great one, leave a comment and let people know about it!
I think my favorite is the pulp fiction video. However I’m probably biased considering I love that scene

Using Obadiah Parker’s cover of Outkast’s “Hey Ya”, I made this Adobe Flash typography animation. This was inspired by animations like The Hush Sound’s “Lion’s Roar”, and movie scene animations like those for Pulp Fiction and Ocean’s Eleven. It was a fun exercise in freestyle Flash animation and linear timeline tweening (which was a nice change from my specialty: programmatic animation (though, I used some programming in the later scenes of this video).

Animation for Astronaut by Spinvis, from his self-titled debut album. I made this for a school assignment (make an animation with the lyrics of a song). Spinvis put it on his dvd Nieuwegein Aan Zee.

A music video I made for a school assignment. I wanted to deal directly with the song’s lyrics, using textual representation and timing transitions with the rythym.

This is a small typography animation I made on After Effects. The song is Numb vs Encore by Linkin Park ft Jay Z. A print of the artwork featured in … all » this animation is available at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/5… Thanks for looking!
From Google:
Animation I did for a moving type paper in my final year (2002) at the Massey University College of Design, Fine Arts and Music. The … all » brief was fairly simple, we were asked to animate type to a piece of music and focus on rythym and timing. I also decided to draw on the rich vocal samples in this song and abuse the humour angle!

I used SWiSHMax to create this video, but I needed to use a screen capture tool (the reason for that watermark in the corner) to actually export it as Swish wasn’t allowing me to export it right, it kept coming out monochrome and all the text inverted.Anyway, here it is. Took some time to make. My first time trying anything like this. Hope to do more, perhaps learn after effects. It’d be a lot more powerful.
C&C Welcome.

Great videos! The Pulp Fiction one is funny as HELLLLL.
More to that http://yuxt.com/artist/Typography_in_Music_Videos
This is a form of expression I have never thought about before. I found it extremely interesting and I thought the videos were very creative. They both entertained and informed me in a new (for me)medium. I love this new site. ArtCulture.com has exposed me to something new and interesting the very first time I have visited.
Keep up the good work, ArtCulture.com and all of you very talented video producers. I will be searching the internet for more.
What a great way to see this form of art work! I don’t have to go in and out of pages to hear or see what is trying to be displayed. Way too smooth for the internet. Great site and truly interesting exhibitions. Alot of good entertainment here.
