Death and Fertility – The Art of Haiti
The Haiti Pavilion at the Venice Biennale features work by Port-au-Prince sculptors Jean Hérard Celeur, André Eugène and Jean Claude Saintilus.
The 54th International Art Exhibition at the 2011 Venice Biennale includes national representation by a record 89 countries. Participating for the first time this year are Andorra, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh and Haiti. Other countries return after a prolonged absence, including Congo, Costa Rica, Cuba, India, Iraq, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Over the course of the summer ArtCulture will feature brief introductions and profiles of the artists and national pavilions at the Venice Biennale 2011.
